The Challenge
The goal of the workcamp is to help to “Rubin Carter” amateur sports association to build a new level of his gym. Infact “Level up!” is about recover the second floor of the building and transform it into a gym, involving the beneficiaries and the neighbours in the works. In the same days there will be in Milan also the annual “Design and Architecture Expo”: we will demonstrate another way to build up together something different in an alternative mood!
The Solution
The international volunteers group will help the local volunteers to dispose of trashes, clean up, rebuilt walls, pave floors, do plumbing and electrical works, painting, decorating, setting up the gym… a lot of hard works! In the free time you can also enjoy the sport classes of boxe, yoga, martial arts, tai chi, break dance, capoeira, theater, belly dance..We will organize workshops about the practice of self building and public moment of community working.

DAY 2 (08/04/2016) – PREPARATION

Today we started to design the new welcome area for the Palestra of Rubin Carter and we organized together the ten working days. In the afternoon we were walking around the neighborhood and other associations that work in that area.
The first day of “Level Up work camp” ended with a boxe lesson at Palestra Popolare Hurricane!! Thank to the trainer Andrea now we’re ready to start the heavy work! A special thanks to the chefs ? : our “cotolette alla milanese” tonight are made in Russia, Taiwan and Mexico!

Saturday work began, and also began to know each other a little better.
Today begins the hardest work, that of masonry: up and down the stairs to carry materials and get very tired but happy to have reached the first target.

After a long evening, recover is hard but thanks to a match on a touch rugby and so much coffee will begin again the work quickly! We can complete the work on schedule!
